Joining Headway
What is Headway?--We’re a venture-backed mental health startup rewiring the mental health industry for access, affordability, and quality. We make it easy for providers to accept insurance flexibility in their private practice, and in turn, easy for clients to find great care they can afford. Thousands of therapists are already using Headway in their practice.
Which insurance does Headway work with?--We currently work with Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, Oxford, and Oscar, but plan to expand our insurance partnerships in the coming months. Insurances we work with vary by state, so please reach out here to learn more!
What does it cost to join and use Headway?--Nothing! It’s completely free to join and use Headway.
What's the commitment?--We don’t impose minimum hour commitments on providers in our community. Our mission is to make quality mental health care more accessible, and if you want to do that by seeing one client through Headway, that works for us.
Is there a contract I need to sign?--Yes, we’ll ask you to sign our standard Provider Agreement when you join us. You can choose to terminate your agreement anytime.
How much will I earn per session?--This varies by license type and location. To get more specific info, complete the “Get started” form above and we’ll reach out to you within 24 hours.
Seeing Clients
How can I see my existing clients through Headway?--In a few seconds, you can add your existing clients to Headway’s provider portal. We verify their insurance details and collect payment information. Not only do we bill the insurance company, we also charge your client’s card on file and send them an email invoice as well. Clients can pay with debit card, credit card, HSA or FSA.
How does Headway attract clients?--We lean on marketing and partnerships to bring more clients to Headway, and in turn, your practice.
What type of support does Headway provide?--It’s incredibly important to us that you’re supported. Headway has a dedicated team to provide answers, advice, and context throughout your experience with Headway. Your feedback and input is a huge part of our growth, and we love working with and learning from you.
Getting Paid
How much will I earn for sessions?--This varies by license type. To get more specific info, submit your info here and someone from our team will contact you within 24 hours.
How often will I be paid?--You’ll get paid twice monthly, on the 15th and on the last day of a month. Payment is processed via direct deposit, and we make it simple to see which sessions were covered in a payment.
Would I be an independent contractor with Headway?--You would, yes. As a 1099 independent contractor, you would receive the necessary 1099 tax forms from Headway at the end of the year.
